Volunteer with We the People competition

Monday, December 17th, 2012

The Center for the Constitution at James Madison’s Montpelier is looking for volunteers to help with the 2013 Virginia We the People competition. Sponsored by the Center for Civic Education, “We the People” is a national program for middle and high school students to compete in simulated congressional hearings about Constitutional issues.

Here is more information from the Center for the Constitution:

As you may recall, the We the People competition takes the format of a simulated congressional hearing, which involves middle and high school classes presenting testimony and answering questions about historical, political, and constitutional issues before a panel of three judges acting as a congressional committee. To make the competitions a success, we need judges, timers, and facilitators for four regional competitions and two state finals.

About the District Finals in January:
All We the People teams must compete at the congressional District Finals in January to earn a spot at the State Finals. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for volunteers at these one-day competitions. The Center will provide volunteer trainings the morning of each competition.
